My Gallery Experiment

I think many artists dream of having a gallery of their own. I felt that pull and I went and did it as an experiment. What started out as a three month plan turned into eight months on the corner of 1st and Virginia next to the Pike Place Market.

Beautiful footage, amazing windows and natural light. This space was amazing.

What I learned from my 8 months there:

Seattle is uncomfortable. There are tons of nice, upstanding locals who live robust lives there. There is beauty to be found. There is also a massive epidemic of homelessness, drug addiction and frankly no leadership from the city council what-so-ever. Seattle has changed.

After having gallery windows smashed, I started questioning the plan of being there. I enjoy that my work is visible. I enjoy most of the humans that walk in the gallery and engage. I enjoy having my space to work and watch city life unfold at the intersection. Honestly though, I find I am craving a space to create and make a mess AND I want a beautiful venue to exhibit in… So for now, I am going to close up the gallery in Seattle and find a space where I can create. As for exhibiting, I’ll be pursuing a number of private spaces, a few of the wineries, and will lease spaces for official shows over the next few months.
