His approach reflects a profound engagement with both his internal world and the external stimuli that shape his artistic vision.

With a focus on the expressive potential of abstraction, Scott Chreist continues to explore and expand the boundaries of contemporary art, offering a unique and compelling  perspective within the vibrant Seattle art scene.

“I explore fragments of memory and emotion while engaging a tension between acrylic paint and the texture of the canvas. This process causes a dialogue between the materials and myself. Each piece begins as a completely white gesso background sculpture. From here, colors create the tension and interplay that entertains me.

I am captivated by moments from my past that linger with an aching intensity. As I paint, my thoughts revisit these memories, sometimes lingering and other times fleeting, seeking a sensation or insight. These memories interact with my creative expression, shaping the final work.”
